SafeDrive app received a GOLD Edison Award, during the ceremony which took place on April 23rd, in New York.
SafeDrive, the app that rewards drivers for not texting while driving, received the GOLD Edison Award within the Human Services subcategory of the Lifestyle & Social Impact category, during the Edison Awards 2015 ceremony.
The Edison Awards finalists were selected by a panel of more than 3,000 senior business executives and academics from across the United States. The evaluation was based on four criteria: concept, value, delivery and impact.
SafeDrive awards drivers points for not texting while driving. Once a driver exceeds 6 mph or 10 km/h, the SafeDrive algorithm starts awarding him points and the “Release” button appears on the screen, helping him drive safely without distractions. If the driver ever wants to use his phone while driving, he has to press the “Release” button, which will result in losing the points he earned that trip. When he arrives at the destination, the points will be added to his account. The earned points can be spent in the SafeDrive Marketplace, an ever-growing shop with discounted products from partner companies.
Therefore, for acting as an incentive for users to drive responsibly, SafeDrive’s social impact has been recognized with a prestigious Edison Award.
“We are deeply honored to receive this award, as it highlights the hard work and the dedication of our team”, said Tudor Cobâlaș, the co-founder of SafeDrive app. “This prestigious recognition reflects our mission to increase road safety in an innovative fashion”.
